Farm Tour
During our recent Farm Tour, students learned how our permaculture gardens work — how soil, plants, and even bugs all support each other in a natural cycle. Our garden is a living example of a closed-loop ecosystem, where compost made from kitchen waste, brown matter, and chicken manure turns into a valuable resource that nourishes the soil again.
We also showcased our Aquaponics system, where water rich in fish waste (high in nitrogen) flows to feed our watercress plants. Students could see firsthand how nutrients are recycled in nature. We were honored to be joined by Bapak RT, Bapak RW, Bapak Lurah, and Ibu Rusliana from the Bogor Food Security Agency (Dinas Ketahanan Pangan Bogor).
Harvest & Cooking Challenge
After the tour came the moment everyone was waiting for — harvesting and cooking!
The children swapped their field hats for cooking hats, formed teams of four, and got to work: washing, chopping, cooking, and plating their dishes beautifully.
Three judges had the tough job of tasting every creation (yes, they were all delicious!). One team’s creativity, neatness, presentation, and teamwork stood out — but honestly, every single group was a winner in our eyes.
